You poor sleep deprived nookster! Maybe we could suggest more practical ways to occupy yourself during the wee hours of the morning.
You could get a second job sending spam emails from your home computer; garden by the moon; repaint the house; or keep on with your poetry. I bet you have a talent for the limerick!
Wishing you good sleep soon - or a newly painted kitchen. :)

  2. 2 nebula

That is so cool! Now I almost feel like one of a loveable bunch of characters in someone’s favourite TV show! Lady Chaos and I agree that you’ve definitely summed up our personalities.

Well done! :D What a lovely poem, capturing us Nooksters so perfectly.
I hope sleep finds you soon… Although a new poem every day would be nice… :)
    (just kidding… sleep’s more important).

Nice one foss. Glad to see you’ve found gainful employment at last.

  5. 5 envirogirl

Just wondering whether this nook thing might have contributed to the sleeplessness?

  6. 6 vivavoce

such eloquent prose :) Have you thought of trying hypnosis or acupuncture. I found accupuncture to be very effective, (though I havn’t tried it for sleeping) and I’m having some hypnosis at the moment (the jury is still out on that one). But if things are that bad anything is worth a try.

….and you know that evil ipod never comes out of her ear, whenever you speak to her now she just turns her head slowly and with a glazed look in her eyes says huhhh (she did occasionally do that pre ipod but not ALL the time) should of listened to your warning foss.

Hmmm, an idea about sleeping - I have a friend in America who said he had terrible sleeping problems (ten hours of sleep per week. Per week!) caused by the medication he was taking. It could be worth talking to your doctor about the possible side effects of any medication you’re on. Just an idea.

Thanks Lady but I’m off all meds. Kicked the anti-depressants some months ago - about two weeks before I stopped sleeping. Aha! I hear you say. MMM, I thought so too but apparently there is no physical reason for my sleep to be disrupted because I’ve discontinued the anti-sad pills. And it is not a return of the Black Dog - I’d know that mangy bugger anywhere and this aint him.

Maybe you should have listened to me viv but then again, I do talk an awful lot of rot. Have thought about acupuncture, just never got around to it. I’ll be on holidays in a few days so might book that in. Will let you know if/when I give it a try. Got a recommended puncturist?

I actually stopped nooking for about a month - no reason just couldn’t be nooked - came back two weeks ago so glad you noticed :( . Didn’t sleep then either.

I don’t know how loveable we are neb but here be a bunch of characters alright.

As a sleep deprived nookster once said
Oh please let me go to my bed
    Instead he wrote rhyme
    Wasting valuable time
When he could have been snoozing instead

(or painting the kitchen, his wife added, agreeing wholeheartedly with the fly – she usually does - ruining the rhyme and stymieing any chance of a night’s sleep.)

That poem is soooo cool, i could never write anything that artistic, but…. I’m not there……:(

  11. 11 fossil

I knew this would happen! Sorry sky but you haven’t been around for a while and it was late and I… oh, here

That’s all though. I’ve missed stacks of names and I’m not writing rhymes for them all. I welcome all additions - ie: write your own. Better still write one for me.

  12. 12 winnierose

Hey Fossil, thats pretty damn good. Did you wake the house up with in the middle of the night when you were reciting that?? I can just see it now. Your cheeks full of air, making the beat box sounds just before you came out with the rap.

  13. 13 bill

    Fossil,
You are talented! A pity poetry is difficult to turn into money!

On the sleep front, I find a boring movie while sitting - lounging in a comfortable chair in front of the fire helps!……

More seriously - lying in a comfortable position in a darkened room and then mentally feeling through all my muscles starting with my toes and working all the way up to my head, identifying any tense muscles and consciously relaxing them …… sometimes have to go through it several times until fully relaxed.
It takes practice, but with practice it does help me to relax and I find that sleep comes more easily when I am relaxed …..

Could be worth a try, and it is all natural!

    All the best
    Bill

  14. 14 winnierose

Bill, bill , bill………He’s done all that, Hes done pills alcholhol, yoga, meditation, hot choclate, slept in every position imaginable. HOt baths, tense muscles. counted sheep, gumboots the lot. drinks- no drinks. tele no tele…..good book………silence……He is a beyond our help……….sad.

I think a hammer is the only solution left.

  15. 15 skymija

Thanks Fossil! I’ve been around the whole time, but have mostly been reading and posting reply’s. Haven’t had much to post lately.

  16. 16 theshadow

Hey Foss, perhaps you could write a little screen play about nooking. The characters could be those that are contributing to the nook art exhibition, and those real people might perform the little play at the very same exhibition.

The title, your choice of course, but my suggestion would be-
    in the nook of time

    Well done on your post.
