smoke free?
Published 1 year, 5 months ago in My life.Six months to the day since I have experienced the blessed rush of tobacco smoke coursing through my lining of my lungs, into my blood stream and hence to my brain.
I don’t miss it at all.

Well done.
I have been smoke free for 3 1/2 years.
Cold turkey the day I found out I was pregnant. I have never looked back!
Well done!
Good on you foss, it’s a hard thing. I’ve been tobacco free for 7 years, and I have to admit now, I’m one of those pain in the rear reformed smokers that harass other smokers with evangelical zeal to see the error of their ways.
P.S. Whose your picture this time?
I have been smoke free since 1988… best thing I ever did!
Yeah there’s no doubt I feel better. I smoked for the best part of 22 years, so I’m aiming to abstain for at least that long. I’ll reconsider the situation on my 60th.
It’s Hunter S Thompson.
I recently was reading a book about the H A’S that referred back to the one he had written a lot. Maybe his one was more interesting ‘cos I gave up on this one.
I definittely recommend reading his work rather than work about him.
Thompson was on the most entertaining, insane and possibly dangerous political junkies of the 20th century. He coined the phrase (and the method) Gonzo Journalism which meant he was a central figure in most of his stories. He was not a passive observer. He got involved, and How!
Thompson wrote many fine books:
Fear and Loathing in Las Vagas is his most famous and a great read. If you haven’t seen the film with Johnny Depp, I recommend that also.
Fear and Loathing on the campaign train ‘72… a collection of articles written for Rolling Stone on Nixon’s ’72 reelection campaign – an unashamed and ultimately unsuccessful attempt to remove Nixon from office and get Democrat, George McGovern elected.
Better than Sex (confessions of a political junky) details his experiences of the 1992 presidential campaign - “trapped like a rat in Mr Bill’s neighbourhood'’
Hell’s Angels is one of my favourites. Thompson spent a year, 1965, living, riding and partying with the Hell’s Angels. In the end he got stomped - beaten to a pulp. It’s fascinating.
The first book he wrote was the Rum Diaries. Lots of booze and insane journalists in Puerto Rico.
they sound interesting will have a look see & as I like johnny depp will track down the movie. ta
Well done ! I have been smoke-free for just over two years.
