My boy needs belting.

Excuse the pun (if not the ishment)

He’s a scrawny little bugger, with no waist to speak of and longish legs. None of his pants fit him and he runs around kinder holding on to his waistband, resisting gravity’s best attempts to dack him.

He needs a belt but I can’t find one. Target, no. Kmart, no. Same at Big W and Dimmeys. A specialists kids’ store I hear you say.

Good.

Which? Where? Or are there alternatives to belting that i haven’t thought of?

Elastic-wasted jeans can be found in Kmart and Target. Or a sturdy black belt can usually be found in Target. Go for elastic - two sizes too small. Or tights - tell him the Batman look is fashionable.

Forget the belt, he will have trouble undoing it when he needs to go to the toilet. Try sewing a little bit of elastic above the label to tighten them up, then you only have to unpick the stitches when he does eventually grow into them.

Braces. Not on your teeth but as worn by stockbrokers, preferably red.

I may only be a dog, but as well as being cute, i am very clever.

Velcro is the answer. You dont have to be smart to undo it, and it automaticaly adjusts to wherever feels comfortable.

If you’re not into sewing and have tried the major stores why not try a school uniform shop.

I know a grown man who wore size 10 boys. Weird. He just brought boys clothes. I would go for elastic, two or three sizes too small. Shorts with thick, explorer socks are another option.

Yeah yeah I know what ya mean. I once used black suspenders, they worked good but all my work mates kept giggling, they said with the white shirt it looked like the old dectives, like the Barney Miller series and they kept pulling on it so I threw that idea out.

I went to one of the stalls at Victoria market and they fixed me up with one; made me one on the spot they did. It looks really good :-)

pumpkin patch has adjustable waist bands on their clothes, or you could just put him in overalls.

What about leggings that look like slacks. Maybe pants with a bit of lycra in them.

Thankyou all for your input - there will be no craft or large sums of money invloved in the solution to my son’s gravity problems. I’m going the red braces. Thanks HG.

My name is not Bruce and I am not a woman. I don't dislike speaking in double negatives. I am easily bored. I am passionate about the health of my planet yet I own a cat. I vote because I want to not because I have to. I am easily bored and sometimes repeat myself.
