Getting that way!! At the best of times though cricket is as boring as that other round ball game Bracksy is wasting our money on!!!!!!!
Cricket is a dying game. The demise of cricket first began in the West Indies where they have been seduced by the money available from basketball, and it’s cooler clothes. I mean, what kid is going to want to hit the streets in cricket gear ? Modern life for kids is all about image.
My son played for a couple of years but in the end, after one day spending all morning fielding in 35 degree heat, only to go out first ball when batting as opener, he decided that it was stupid. All that effort in the field and when it’s your turn to bat, it only lasts one ball ? Where is the attraction in that ? Or the fairness ? Then you have to wait around all afternoon doing nothing. How is that appealing to kids today ? You can call it character building all you want, but there are plenty more options for kids today to improve their character, no longer just cricket and football.
Cricket is becoming an anachronism. 20-20 is a last ditch attempt to interest the modern generation, but it will only serve to alienate the traditional supporter base. I give it 30 years before we treat cricket as a minor sport here in Australia, like they are already starting to do in England and the West Indies, and only that long because we are currently so good at it.
Yes , hate cricket more….
spamming the whole place with adds is shameful.
admin, can u remove some/all of those ads?? they really make navigating through real posts difficult!
Jess08 and ackbar you might not like cricket but this site is for everyone. I have deicated my life to keeping kids off the street and getting them onto the cricket field by volunteering for both the cricket club and the Association. Unfortunately the world is a changed place now and helping keep kids off the street is alot harder. It is also an era of “lazy parent syndrome”.Parents can’t be bothered so just drop their kids of to be “baby sat” or don’t want to be involved as they have too much going on. It is left to the few hard working volunteers to keep these clubs afloat ( not just the club I am with but most sporting clubs). As for your spam and ads’ comments I will be more than happy to lay off if you 2 are willing to put your hand up and volunteer your time in helping get senior players and a coach so we can get more help with the kids. But I suppose you are too busy, don’t care or just want to critisise others who are trying to do something. May I ask which community sporting clubs you WORK for not play for but volunteer your services to. From your nasty remarks I gather there is none. Put your money where your mouth is and get up and do something for your local community.
jess08, just thought i’d give you something else to read since you are having such a hard time navigating through the site.(NOT)
segue, cricket isn’t for everyone and I am also involved in basketball so I do wear 2 caps here. I am sorry your sun didn’t enjoy playing but the game and rules are changing all the time. As for your son fielding in 35 degree heat all morning, I would assume he was playing juniors, the laws of cricket do have a heat policy and that should have been enforced, the game should not have been played. In regard to your son playing basketball, that’s great he is enjoying it and you are involved in his sports and as I said each to their own it was not a statement I made to cause friction just to point out that alot of kids are nowadays preferring basketball to cricket.
Highly hypocritical of you ackbar considering your spamming the whole sight weth religion. But as I said this site is for everyone to say what they want and give their opinion
