Leaky Boat Tours presents: The Woomera Getaway Package and other Pacific Solutions.
Published 1 year, 8 months ago in My life.Desperate to escape the tyranny of a Middle Eastern dictator?
Or just tired of the Third World and craving a day in the sun?
Leaky Boat Tours promises the best Australia has to offer - with its Woomera Getaway Package and Pacific Solutions.
Experience the searing heat of the South Australian Desert in this 21st century prison-style resort and relish the beauty of the desert sun glinting off razor wire.
These views aren’t just breath-taking. They’re blood-letting.
Woomera – your day in the sun.
(cue Theme to a Summer Place)
THERE’S never a dull moment at Woomera with fun activities for the whole family to enjoy.
Cool off with our federally-funded water canons and slippery slide, sign up for team rioting or enroll in one of our sowing classes, including cross and lip-stitch.
Slip into a long, brain-bending game of Depression Scrabble or gamble your protection visa in the Waiting Game .
Who knows, you could win an all-expenses paid trip on Australian Navy people mover and spend the next five years kicking back on an abandoned phosphate mine, somewhere on the sinking island of Nauru: voted most popular destination by refugees without a choice.
Woomera, the place to wait. And wait.
And wait.
And wait.
I know, this is kinda old and I know Woomera was closed. But Woomera was not the only place of its kind and Naru is still the number one destination for refugees without a choice - little has changed as I’m sure 83 Sri Lankan asylum seekers would attest.
And wait.

LOL! I know cityslickers who would pay good money for such a retreat: quiet, secure, no traffic or modern conveniences, out of mobile phone range with bonus desert sands skin peel treatment.

sounds great! Do they have child minding facilities?
Not so much child minding as child abusing facilities.
There were some games tailored to children’s participation - such as “children overboard’’ - but turns out they were more fantasy than actual rough and tumble, wear-the-kids-out good fun.
Children were allowed to join in the team rioting and follow up rounds of dodge the water canon, tear gas statues and Hunger Strike.
Those games no longer appear on the brochure.
Mostly the kids just sit around and play Mental Illness patience with everyone else.
Not the Woomera I remember, great Pub with good food and the pokies, although they had to be reminded of my dessert order! Caravan park was probably 2 star but only stayed one night. The rocket park was great, even the birds thought so, one built its nest in the nosecone of a rocket. Great place to stop for the night between Port Augusta and Glendambo! Unfortunately I think it’s going down hill now the Yanks and Poms are pulling out.
